My friend bought me a huge, powerful juicer!! I'm so excited and I can't wait to use it. I need ideas, recipes, and general help!!! I'd like to do a juice fast after the new year to detox. I'd even like to make nut butters. (can you tell I'm excited???)

Any recipes or advice would be printed, used and much appreciated!!

What a great gift!
I have to tell you that I have a little juicer (Juiceman Jr) and make the best orange juice with it...
It does take a bit work to peel the oranges but you can buy this special little contraption that zips through the skin so that you peel the skin away in quarters (does anyone know what I'm talking about?).
Put the oranges into your juicer into pulled apart chunks and it makes the best OJ...frothy, tasty...kind of like a homemade Orange Julius....

Hmm... I would just say that citrus is in season right now and CHEAP, so use that as much as you can. If you get kumquats you can juice the peel too, since that is where the sugar is.

It's a Champion 2000 Juicer. So here's a stupid question. Do you have to peel the carrots? What about apples? Do you have to boil the juice or just drink it raw?

Anyone ever try nut butters? Do you have to add oil?

Sorry for so many questions...can you tell i'm clueless about juicers??

I do not have a Champion juicer (wow, that's a nice juicer) but with my juicer you can juice anything that you can get a clear juice from such as:

apples (minus core and the seeds have cyanide in them anyway)
oranges
pineapple
celery
carrots

But you cannot juice fruit that can clog the juicer like:

pears
bananas

You do not have to peel apples or carrots although some people prefer to peel a fruit if the skin is waxed.
You do have to peel oranges because their skin is bitter.

I don't think you can put nuts in the juicer and I've never heard of anyone adding oils although I admit, I am not a juicing expert.

Good luck!

Oh!
You asked about boiling...
No, you do not boil your juices.
Part of the reason people benefit from juicing is that the fresh juice is full of fresh enzymes and nutrients. I would think that cooking/boiling your juice would destroy some of those goodies.
Ideally, you want to drink your juice as soon as possible before the juice begins to oxidize and lose some of these benefits. Oxidation begins to happen right away (notice how apples turn brown very soon after you cut them?).

At least, that's what I know about it

Carrot Juice and Vanilla Ice Cream. Or, some non-dairy equivalent of Vanilla Ice Cream, if that's your thing.

It's GOOOOOOOD.
