A friend of mine from church had her daughter last week. She is young (20) and they just got married in January. This was NOT planned, and she has been having a hard time adjusting to being a mommy. She is dedicated and wants to nurse, but when I called her to ask how it was going she said "not so good"...so I jumped in my car this morning, ran to Wal-Mart, grabbed some lunch and dinner for her and some lansinoh. Of course I couldn't resist bringing a tiny NB dipe. So I worked with her, had her put lanolin on her bleeding nipples and got her to latch better and asked if she'd humor me and let me put a cloth dipe on her. Of course she wasn't going to say no. So I did :LOL Her MIL was there and thought I was nutso, but I really don't care. She was offering her "nursing advice" since she nursed all her kids, but that was 10 years ago...I brought info from kellymom.com too...anyway, this has turned into a nursing post, but I promise it was about diapering! I dont know what dipe this is, but it's cute Diaper shot
Her name is Bailey, and she has the most hair I have ever seen!
Face shot
So, I know, this isn't MY baby, but I am starting to get baby fever again and well...this is the only way I can satisfy the baby hungries w/out having my own.

Way to go for being there for this new mom!!! We need more of that, like it used to be!
And what a cute baby! I wonder if mine will have a lot of hair. I like that dipe. You wouldn't happen to have any for sale now would you.......? (lol -- running so I don't spend any more $$$$)

Good for you, Shandelle!! That is awesome...it does help so much in this day and age to have IRL support for breastfeeding. IME nurses at hospitals aren't always the most helpful in nursing. I read once about a tribe in Africa that the new moms actually have 40 days where they stay in the hut w/ the baby and all the other women in the village come in and out bringing a special kind of food and taking care of her. I don't even think the husband is around her at that time. I've always thought I'd wish America would be more like that...I bet we'd see the instance of PPD take a nose-dive if women could really just "baby-moon" and not worry about anything!! Ok...stepping of my

BTW...love the dipe on that precious girl!!

It's fun, isn't it!? It was so nice of you to help your friend. The first few weeks of nursing can be tough without the right support. Wish you were around here, I'd love to have someone bring a cd over and try it on my babe!

Thanks for the ladies I am just sickened by the extremely low breastfeeding rates here. I wanted this little one to stand a chance, and it is SO easy to give up in those first few weeks. I can't go to the store without seeing a baby in one of those infant carriers, plopped into a shopping cart with a bottle propped in it's mouth. : And Don't even ask me to tell you what I've SEEN in those bottles...(fizzy bown stuff- coke or pepsi?, orange juice, chocolate milk...and these are INFANTS!) but this is a diapering post... :LOL
I was so glad to put that soft cloth on her (already) little red bum...she even left me a breasmilk surprise to take home. :LOL

Goodness help me... I think I need to find one of these borrowed babies to help me, too! :LOL

She's soooo sweet!

What a sweet lil babe. Can she call LLL for b'fing help? If she's bleeding, she should probably pump on that side to help heal. And, yes, sounds like a latch issue. Were you able to help her get positioned and latched right? You're such a good friend to go to her. Good work.

OMG that is one beautiful newborn!!! I can't wait to meet my little girl!

By the way, I think you are awesome for helping her out. I was once a young mom and I wish I had you there to help when I couldn't get a good latch and was suffering big time from bleeding nipples.
