Hi,
I just kind of dove in and started posting on the birth professionals forum, but I felt awkward about not introducing myself. I've been hanging around on the net for a long time, but I have more experience with email lists and newsgroups where everyone's reading the same thing so a "hi" with your first post does the trick! I'm just getting used to the way forums work.
I'm enjoying what I'm reading here, and looking forward to more. I've got three grown kids. I discovered Mothering Magazine after my second was born and felt like I'd finally found my people! It was so nice to find an arena where natural birth, breastfeeding and parents' innate wisdom was celebrated.
Around the same time (late 80s) I began training as a childbirth educator, which lead to doula work. I've had a couple of breaks from going to births over the years, but I always come back to my passion. I'm just returning to work now after taking a couple of years off due to burn out and personal issues. I've been a little nervous about getting back into it, but I'm now immersing myself in everything birth and remembering why I'm so drawn to this work.
I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone.
