I am trying so hard to make sensible choices, and lead a healthy lifestyle. On my list of priorities I've put good nutrition, making sure I take an iron supplement every day, staying well hydrated, and getting enough rest. It's the "getting enough rest" part that I'm having the most trouble with.
Yesterday I felt pretty tired. In the afternoon, I laid down in bed for a nap. I couldn't sleep, though, so decided to get up again 20 minutes later. So, when it was night-time, I thought for sure I'd have no trouble sleeping since I hadn't napped and had been so tired. I went to bed at around 11pm, and read for another hour. I tried in earnest to go to sleep at around midnight. But I couldn't get comfortable, so I just kept tossing and turning. When I finally did fall asleep I woke up again a short time later with acid reflux, even though I had taken care to eat a smaller dinner well before my bedtime. Sigh. So then I was up and restless again, and unable to sleep. Eventually, I must have drifted off again, and again chocked on acid reflux again. I used the bathroom and decided at around 3am that I was done tossing and turning. I got up, and watched TV and drank milk until about 5am. At 5am I was finally able to sleep without any problems or acid reflux. I slept until 10:30 and then got up to start my day.
I do not feel rested. I'm still tired. I wish there was a sleeping pill for pregnant women.

I think there is something herbal that pregnant women can take to help sleep, but I don't remember what it is exactly. (Am I thinking of the "Mamacalm"?) Maybe another poster will remember??
I can relate to the reflux though. I take a Zantac after dinner and I don't wake up choking on it anymore. Although I still wake up with a burning that a glass of milk usually takes care of.

Last night was hard for me, too. My dh travels (for work), and he's gone 3-4 nights a week. When I have to share the bed, it's harder to get comfortable.

Last night, we went to bed at 10:30. I was up (just briefly, but still) at 11:30, 12:30, 2:00, 3:30, 4:49, 5:15, 6:30, then up for the day at 7:30. Good grief.

I have at least three or four nights/week where I get less than 5 hours of sleep (and that 5 hours is greatly interupted). It is really driving me crazy. Last night I just started crying around 2 a.m. b/c I could NOT sleep.

My advice is to not look at the clock. For me it makes sleepless nights sooooooo much worse.
This is useful too when the baby arrives and wakes up a million times per night.
