I had my little girl on April 1st at 2:06 pm! After a few hours of occasional mild contractions starting at 6 am I decided to call my midwife at 8:30 to let her know that I thought I might be going into labor. I had thrown up a couple times and was crampy but the contractions weren't super close together and most weren't very painful at all. She asked me to come into the office to be checked and when we got there around 10:30 I was dilated to 6 cms!!! I still didn't believe that I was really in labor but she told us to go across the street to the hospital and she would come over when she was done seeing patients at noon. We got some lunch and then got checked in by about 11:30. The nurse checked me and I was now 7 cms but my painful contractions were still only about 10 minutes apart. After about 45 minutes I started wandering the halls and that helped things pick up but everything was still very manageable. At 1:15 my water broke and then things got exciting!! The contractions really picked up in intensity and frequency and I could feel the baby moving down. I started having classic transition symptoms like nausea and hot flashes and started panicking. I had a nice little break from contractions for a few minutes and then it was time to push! That felt so good to work against the pain! I pushed for about 20 minutes which surprised me since I pushed out DS in 30 minutes with an epidural. I assumed she would just come flying out but it turned out that she was posterior and never turned, so considering that, I got her out pretty darn quick! My active labor was only about 1.5-2 hours long! I had a feeling I would go fast this time but I didn't predict that fast! I am over the moon that I was able to do it completely unmedicated!! I feel like super woman!!
