So, I have officially given in. I need to stop kidding myself and put away my regular pants. I had a set amount of money to spend and ended up on Gap and Old Navy. They have decent sales toady. GAP15 gets you 15% off, there is free shipping for both stores and 20% off at Old Navy the codes for those are on the front page of the Old Navy site. Happy Shopping!

Sigh I'm in desperate need of maternity pants as well. I bought some cute ones at Old Navy (should have waited for the 20% off, drat!) but I think I'm going to return them anyway. I couldn't figure out whether to get my current size or assume that my behind is going to expand as well and go up one size.

So in the mean time I have about five pairs of jeans that I was going to donate but I might experiment with this DIY project instead.

Don't go up a size... I think they use vanity sizing on maternity bottoms. At Motherhood I have to buy a size smaller than my non-pregnant size and it's still too baggy. At Old Navy I have to try on everything because it seems like the sizes are not consistent.

I'm done with maternity jeans entirely though. I must be shaped weirdly or something because I've tried several different types and I cannot keep them up (even toward the end of pregnancy last time).

I got one of those belly bands from Motherhood Maternity and am wearing my normal jeans partially unzipped underneath.

I found some cute business maternity pants at a consignment shop and for whatever reason those will actually stay up. I like shopping those stores because the quality of the item is usually better than what I could afford brand new.

I have this problem. The only maternity jeans that I can wear without being concerned about them falling off are the "secret belly type." (Which basically looks like what the DIY person made, but with less pretty material). I have to hike the panel up over my belly. The other pants (bought in my pre-preg size) are too big and I have a very large derriere to begin with
. The short band does nothing to hold them up....they just keep slidin'.

at motherhood I have to buy a size up, sometimes more. I find their stuff runs small, shrinks and fits weird.

I've had good luck with gap maternity, and I can usually find it cheap on ebay

I'm an xxs/00 and 5'6" so finding maternity that fits me is a HUGE challenge. I've done alright with Old Navy (eBay is my best friend), but find that I could use an extra inch or two on the inseam because of my height. Motherhood doesn't carry anything smaller than a womens small so I'm S-O-L there.

As far as sizing goes if you're going to order online...go into the store first and try clothes on until you find your size

Heh! I always wondered what mamas your size do for maternity pants. It's cool that Old Navy carries a wider variety of sizes.

My SIL did manage to find XS at one Motherhood store, but I think she is usually a size 2 or 4, so that would still probably be too large for you.

My mom ordered me a bunch of maternity clothes online. That are waaaay too big (and a couple outfits are just fugly as all get out). And the paperwork says I need to return them by mail and they will credit HER credit card--no option to exchange for something that fits/is more my style or give ME a store credit so I can pick something out. THANKS A LOT! I TOLD her to get me a gift card and let me pick stuff out so I could try it on and ensure fit. She always does stuff with "good intentions" that ends up being more hassle than it is worth.
