My mom just gave me the gorgeous silk Zolo she bought for me. I've been trying it on (sans baby, I am due in 2 weeks), but I'm just not crazy about it. The tail hanging down kind of irritates me, it feels bulky and awkward, and it just doesn't feel secure on my shoulder. It feels like the fabric is always bunched up as far as it will go in the ring, and that I will constantly be adjusting the baby to keep their head off the rings.
I have a stretch hotsling, that I also haven't used yet. I sent in my measurements, and was told to get a small, but it feels way too small. I can't imagine how I would ever nurse a baby in there. Plus, I can't move the arm that the sling is over.
I have a KKAFP that I used when ds was a toddler. I haven't used it with a baby yet, but again, I hate the feeling of not being able to move my left arm.
I really want to have a sling that works for us, because I will have a busy 3yo to chase after, but I can't stand the 'tied up' feeling I get from all these.
And I have another issue: How do you switch sides when nursing in a sling? Do you put the baby in the other direction? Do you take the sling off and put it on the other shoulder? Ds always had to nurse on both sides, and it seems like more of a pain to keep switching the baby and sling around than it is to just sit down and have them nurse in my arms.
Am I just pregnant and uncomfortable, and things will be different when the baby is here? Or am I just not meant to sling? At this point it seems like the Bjorn (which I loved with ds) would just be much easier and more comfortable.
