Since they just arrived for the season, I guess I will stay inside until winter. It's either that, coat myself with chemicals that scare me, or go ahead outside and get bitten like crazy. I welt up and scar from the bastards.

Neet, I got a natural bugspray from Whole Foods. It doesn't work quite as well as off, but at least it doesn't have all those nasty chemicals

Oh, I'm going to try that. I swear, when I step outside, I can hear the little critters scream "LOOK. AN ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFETT!" My kids and I swell up pretty bad and my son scratches until he is bleeding and therefore spends the majority of his summer covered in bandaids.

Get some poultry (ducks or chickens) if you can stand them and their poop. They eat lots of the little buggers!

Don't get geese, though. Although they too eat bugs, they are mean!

Also wanted to add that if you are deficient in the B vitamins you'll attract them more. I don't know why that is but I do know that while I was pg. (and taking a good vitamin every day) I hardly ever got bitten.

They apparently prefer banana-eaters, too. My sil heard this somewhere, and she stops buying bananas for the summer months.

I would (almost) rather be itchy -- I loves me a good banana!
