well, when you read the advice in the sewing machine manuals, they usually say to try a brand new needle or to make sure you are not using cheap thread. That usually solves most of my problems.

Rethreading the machine totally and use a new bobbin. It may help and would be an easy fix. Otherwise you are going to have to mess with the tension until it is correct. Try rethreading the bobbin and see what happens.

bobbin is the bottom part that the bottom thread gose in right? I did that. I oiled and cleaned where I could only reach and nothing. No change. The top thread is still too tight, on zero setting. they make them these days so that you can't get inside the tension "reel" unlike the oldfashion sewing machine - that part is on the outside and you can clean it.

Oh, I guess I am gonna have to take in on Monday. I had it tuned about 6 weeks ago and I have 90 days warranty on it so hopefully they'll fix it for free.

What kind of machine is it? I had that problem with my Brother, and it turned out the bobbin casing was screwed up--I didn't bother to get it fixed (it was a $125 machine,*not* worth a $60 tune up) but when I showed it to my sewing machine dealer that was the first thing she said--it would have been about a $20 fix for a new bobbin casing (the metal part that surrounds the bobbin, and yes that's the part that holds the lower thread).

Sounds to me like it isn't the top thread that's the problem, it's the bottom thread, but I may be wrong. I can't imagine your repair person won't fix it again for you.

It was $40 for tune up and $20 to replace some parts.
And yes, I figured it out and it's the robbin that needs to be replaced. I finally found the little screw ON the robbin and it was very loos so I tighnted it and it made a big difference. BUT as I was sewing it was going back to where it was. It's on and off....tight and loose....tight and loose. Plus some other issues. I will take it in on Monday.

Thanks for the help everyone!!
