I don't even know where to start, but here is what I propose-<br><br>
a National Nurse Out<br><br>
in every state, every capitol, every major city,<br><br>
pushing for legislations where there is none, and educating about the laws where they already exist.<br><br>
Same day, same time, all across the nation.<br><br>
Is this doable at all? Where would one even begin?

Well, let's think about this.<br><br>
Every location would need a coordinator.<br><br>
And there would need to be a list of cities in each state- here in PA I am thinking Philly, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg. I could do Harrisburg.<br><br>
And we would need to choose a date. Any breast-signifigant dates? I don't want to appropriate or take away from World Walks for Breastfeeding. Isn't there another breastfeeding week in October?

Oh, lets please do it before its chilly outside. Frostbitten nipples are not my idea of fun - and it has been known to snow in October (even Sept) where i am.. Isn't there a whole week in August for BF week?<br><br>
I can do Colorado Springs...<br><br>
A saturday would be the best, I think, that way us WOHM's can be there too.

Yes, but World Breastfeeding Week is when La Leche League has walks all over the world. It is also a major fundraiser. I would not want to interfere with that in anyway.<br><br>
We can definitely take our time on this. It isn't something urgent that needs to happen right away.

Wouldn't we bring more emphasis to World Breastfeeding week by having a national nurse out day when they are doing theirs as well? As long as it's not on the same day or is it going on over a span of days???

Walks can (and do!) happen anytime during World Breastfeeding Week, which is the first week of August. I just would hate to get in the way of anyone's walk.

Good, hopefully this will give me enough time to show up with an actual baby to nurse.

The time is definitely up for discussion. I know as a LLL leader I could not possibly have a walk and a nurse out in one week. And for me, the walk has to come first. I'm just guessing others would be in this position as well.

I wonder if there is a day coming up for children's rights, human rights, or women's rights?

Stand for Children day is generally around June 1.<br>
Isn't there also a UN International Day of the Child?

I think a National Nurse OUT is a fantastic idea, I kno it would be well recieved here in Flagstaff! Let me know what I could do to help! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rocks.jpg" style="border:0px solid;" title="mdc rocks"> . I have to second that it would be difficult to do during WBW due to already planned events and fundraisers.....How about in the weeks leading up to WBW to help create awareness (and hopefully donations) in communities?

I thought International Children's Day was celebrated on June 1. May be that is different for USA though? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug"><br><br>
According to Wikipedia this day "is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year"<br><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Day" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Day</a><br><br>
The following page has a bit of info about the US side of things: <a href="http://flagspot.net/flags/int-chdn.html#event" target="_blank">http://flagspot.net/flags/int-chdn.html#event</a> and June 1 seems to be the date.

Well, that would explain why that is when Stand for Children! :LOL<br><br>
OK, "National Nurse Out" as a name is already taken here<br><a href="http://www.promom.org/nno/" target="_blank">http://www.promom.org/nno/</a><br><br>
This is great, but it is NOT what I was proposing. What I am proposing is very definitely political activism.<br><br>
So, we'll need a different name for it. (And here I thought I was so cool!)
