so we just got some chicken liver from whole foods. i've never even had liver before but i know i want my son to get the nutrition-and me to if it tastes alright

so a couple of my nutrition books for babies say to grate it into his egg yolk. but do i cook it before i freeze it and then grate it? or just freeze raw? if i cook it, how do i cook it?

and the same thing for taking it like a pill frozen? cooked or raw?

I think the idea is that it is frozen for two weeks to kill parasites and then used raw. I do this with beef liver to make 'pills' for myself. I do sometimes remember to grate a little onto the kid's food too. I blend it into smoothies for them which is popular.
If your little one is a little older you can make cooked liver 'chicken nuggets' by dipping the livers in egg, then bread crumbs and frying them. My kids really like these (with ketchup to dip). They also love pate too.
But I think the idea is that there is extra nutrition in raw liver.
