I don't live on an island, but wanted to say that here in Washington state there are several small islands that people could be refering to. They aren't the "tropical" type islands, not exotic or anything, just not part of the mainland.

Yup, And I want to know which ones! I live on Nantucket island, which is nothing close to a tropical island. I've never met anyone who lives on an island besides the people who live here.

Maybe I should have posted this in a different forum?

I live on the biggest island in the world - Australia.

Love it - have been to a few places around the world and haven't found anywhere to beat Queensland yet! What does the tourism slogan say - beautiful one day, perfect the next.

I don't live on an island but there are lots of casinos here that go for that tropical island flair. Does that count? Not that I ever go to them.

LOL, Pie. I also live on a Nevada island--it's a moderate temperature place surrounded by snowy mountains that in the winter require chains. I never go anywhere in the winter because of that, so I feel like I'm trapped sometimes. OK, I guess I could get in my car and drive due east and drive out into the middle of Nevada, but I never feel any desire to do that.
