the ones who PREFER to sleep on their own?? i almost didn't believe they existed. my DS (now almost 3) didn't sleep through the night without nursing or without *us* until he was 2.5 and it's still not a guarantee. well, and he still sleeps with DH (i sleep downstairs in a recliner bc of my back issues).

well...along came DD...she's 3mo now and she sleeps through the night...10hrs straight last night...no nursing...and she PREFERS to sleep by herself in her little moses basket. !!!! at first i'd try to have her sleep on me for part of the night but she'd just fidget and fuss. put her in her moses basket and BAM! out like a light. 'nighty 'night mommy! LOL

soooo...i think we won't be co-sleeping with her. part of me is sad about that because i feel like we'll be missing out on special bonding time...but then i remember how ANNOYING it can be sometimes to have a child who won't sleep any other way (LMAO) and i do a happy dance that she's so happy in her little basket by herself.

so we'll continue with that until she shows us that she wants something different.

wow. never thought i'd have one of "those" kids. LOL!

I think it's great that you're honoring what your baby needs!

I'm wondering if the same thing isn't happening to our 6 month old. We co sleep, but she's up alot. We're considering trying a crib in our room to see if she sleeps better without us!

My older son co slept until aged 3, on and off til aged 7. My little ds now 2 has slept on his own through the night)12 hours) since 3 months. He prefers it too!! It is sad, but at the same time you do get some sleep!

My dd hated co-sleeping as an infant. FIrst she did not want to sleep with us. Then she was not happy in the cradle next to the bed. We all started sleeping well when we moved her to her own room at 3 months. I, too, mourned the fact that we missed that time.

Now when she turned 2 she decided our bed was way better.

My long winded story=you keep doing what your dd needs.

I am discovering the same about my ds...at almost 7 months old. I fell asleep on the couch one night and he slept 10 straight hours. So, I tried it a few more times....one night wasn't so good, then another 10 hour night and then 12 hours last night! We moved the crib into my bedroom and I was terrified of putting him in there, thinking he would surely scream the instant I set him in there. Nope, he played around for a few minutes and was in a deep sleep within 15 minutes! It will be interesting to see how the first night goes. I am anxious to have the big bed to myself!

I too, am saddened by the fact that I don't have one of those cuddlebunnies who wants to share my bed. But maybe when he's older he'll sneak into my room for some snuggles.
