I heard an AWESOME anti-circ message this morning!!

And, I heard it in a very odd place...the Howard Stern Show!!??

Just FYI...I'm a newer mommy to a little girl and I would NEVER do anything to cause her any pain that is unneccesary. (We would not have circ'd a boy)
I feel sorry for little girls when the mommy gets their ears pierced for cryin' out loud (pun intended) My heart just breaks for helpless infants subjected to this brutality.

And, I was listening to Howard on Sirius in the car, while my Mom babysat. I totally get that not everyone loves HS, but I'm a fan and and big supporter of free-speech issues. ANYway...

The sentence that really got to me was how Oprah (and others) have gone on and on about female circ in Africa and elsewhere. But, it's done here to baby boys all day, everyday. No story there, right?

Howard is SO against it and thinks it should be made illegal and his guest (a comedian) made some comment that really showed just how ludacris it is.

Just wanted to share because it brought the issue to light for me, as I had never really thought about it before. Now I can spread the word to all my mainstream friends

I also listen to HS but missed that part this morning. Hubby is a big fan and actual started to turn anti-circ after listening to discussion on the show back in the 90s (as you know, Fred and Sal are intact, and Howard wishes he was, which usually gets the discussion going). I heard a female comedian on there last month talking about how she slept with her first intact man recently and how great it was (she joked it was great because it was over in a flash - LOL!).

I know Howard isn't for everyone, but he is right on with regard to circumcision and has been very outspoken about it.
Nice to see someone with a big listening audience putting out that message. Now, if only Bill Maher would follow suit.

Yeah too bad Fred (I think it was Fred) cut his sons.
HS is one of the most vocal celebs that talk about the horror of circ. It is his one redeeming quality to me

Not sure who...but not Fred, he has a little girl.

Also, I remembered Howard saying he NEVER would have circ'd a son. (He has 3 girls)

I just think it's good when ANY media source puts a positive spin on such issues. (I feel the same about breastfeeding, co-sleeping etc...) The mainstream media just bombards us with what to think, what's "pretty," and makes such absurd things seem the norm.

Baby steps....

Well I know that one of the intact men on the show cut his sons - I remember hearing the audio of it. His reason was he felt weird growing up so he figured he may as well just have it done for them.
