I am hurting so bad today in my pelvic area! My hips hurt, my lower belly hurts, my back hurts, and I have been having pubic symphysis pains and popping as well. I am measuring 21 weeks now when I am actually 15. I am thinking this is caused by my pelvis being misaligned (or maybe I am just hoping it isn't twins!)
Thanks for hearing my gripe! I am just having a down night. Going to soak in the bath and hope that helps.

Ouch, Lanie! I am sorry you are in so much pain!

There is a fantastic website called http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org written by a woman named "KMom" which is really great for all pregnant women.

She has a page on there specifically for Pubic Symphisis Dysfunction which I recommend to all my moms suffering from Pubic Pain. It is definitely the most comprehensive page I have ever seen on the subject.

More than likely you will need a maternity support belt as you get bigger to help take some of the pressure off your pelvis. Seeing a chiro now could probably help some too.

And you are probably measuring large because you are having #4, and your uterus remembers what to do.

I have had these nerve type pains during each pregnancy. For me it seems to have to do with baby's position. It can be painful but I don't tink you can do much but encourage movement from baby.

Thanks Yonit! I have read and reread that site last pg and this one. During the end of my last pg it came to the point that I was unable to walk or do much of anything. I have thought of maybe wrapping my hips with a sling or something while I am at home. I would love to see if a chiro would help but last time I didn't have the money and it looks like I won't this time either. I wish they were covered by my insurance!

Lanie,

I agree with Jude, that you may want to talk to your insurance company about Chiro. I know mine is now covering it - which is great, since every pregnant woman needs a good chiro

If they won't, maybe there is an osteopath near you? They are medical doctors and are generally covered by insurance, but they also know a lot about the spine and many do spinal work similar to a chiro.

Ow...

I used to hurt so bad with DS... I didn't see a chiro when I was pg but my OB is an osteopath and she could put things back if they were out. Have you tried some heat/cold? I have some tube socks I filled with rice, and if you microwave them, they make great hot packs. I lived off those things at the end of my last pg, they felt soooo good!

I'll have to try the hot packs. That'll make a great picture, me sprawled on the couch with a hot pack on my crotch.
Thanks for the info; I came over here to search for anything on SPD and found this thread.
Though I had already gone the Google route and found the above link--that was great.

My mother had this; showed up right after her 3rd delivery, bothered her off and on for a few years and she actually had a surgery consult at one point. She wore a corset which sort of helped. Then she got pregnant again and had the pain throughout her entire pregnancy (bless her, I don't know if I can do this again!). She said it did resolve after the birth, but still bothers her now and then.

I've been wondering if it's at all related to the tailbone injury I had during DS's birth. Oh, well, nothing much to do about it now!

I've been having a little pain too, and what really helps is doing yoga squats.

Put your feet about shoulder width apart, facing out, and put your hands, palms together, against your sternum (namaste position) then squat as deep as you can, almost until your tush hits the floor. Press your elbows against the inside of your knees and gently push out.

Alternatively, you can sit on the edge of a chair, put your hands on your knees, and gently push your legs apart to stretch your hips.

Or (I know, I know) you can do child pose. Get on all fours and then rock back until your butt is on the floor and your laying face down, then try and rock back further to stretch your hips more. Do that several times and it should really help.

Good luck!
