I've got a loaf of bread in the oven right now- I got frustrated at the supermarket trying to find a loaf of bread without questionable additives, so I bought a couple of loaf pans instead. I haven't been able to use homemade bread for sandwiches because it always comes out funky shapes.<br><br>
The Pyrex pans ones were only a little bit more expensive than the ones with the toxic "nonstick coating," and either one is cheaper than constantly buying the expensive bread without junk added to it. What I just discovered is that it's easy to tell if the bread is done because I can see through the bottom and look at the crust!

i have some, only i accidentaly preheated the oven, and had a loaf pan in there with the plastic lid on, and it seriously melted in the oven. took me weeks to get rid of the melted plastic. and it stunk to high heaven.

ahh, I really want to make bread, but I am so intimidated by the whole process. I have some Pyrex loaf dishes as well- maybe I should just go ahead and TRY one day. There is nothing better than homemade bread... yummmm....

Hey Lucy,<br><br>
Bring your pyrex pans over here one day and we can bake bread! I love to bake bread... have tons of fun recipes. It's really not difficult, just time consuming... but very therapeutic LOL!<br><br>

I love my pyrex, too. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> But, I mainly use them for quick breads; ie. banana, pumpkin, etc.<br><br>
I'm still stuck on the bread machine and waking up to fresh bread w/NO effort. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"><br><br>
But, back on topic, <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"> Pyrex!

Glass pans let you bake at 25 degrees less than usual... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
And they are great for fridge storage and meat defrosting in the fridge
