Today we flew from Chicago to Anchorage, a six hour flight. DS1 (2.5 y/o) was. a. little. angel. I got to be "that mom with the well-behaved kids" for once. Usually I'm "that mom who looks like she might have a nervous breakdown at any point." Refreshing.

This is the kid I've been ready to throw out the nearest window for the past three weeks. Today, he watched some Sid the Science Kid on the iPod Touch, played a memory game (also on the Touch...), vroomed a few cars and airplanes around, and, for bonus points, said, "I'm sleepy, can we snuggle?" to DH and fell asleep for the last hour and a half of the flight.

I don't know who this kid who looks exactly like DS1 is, but I like him. He's running around the otherwise-empty airport "nursery" room (it has a couch, some chairs, a bathroom, a kids' table, a Little Tykes slide, and a big window looking out at the airplanes) and screeching like a madman, and I'm not trying to stop him. I think he's earned it.

Yup, family of four now! DS1 is currently making up for yesterday's spectacular behavior by reverting to wordless screaming as a primary means of communication. But we're in the privacy of our own home... so have at it, kiddo. ;-)

Congrats! On your baby and your son's behavior! Someone up there must love you. I can't even imagine taking the girls on a 6-hour ANYTHING right now. O_O

iPod Touch is our friend. I'm not sure what we'd do on an airplane without it. We're SO not a park-em-in-front-of-the-tv household, but on an airplane, anything goes. He watched the tooth-brushing episode of Sid the Science kid three times in a row. And I do NOT feel bad about it in the least. :D

We were in the same DDC for our 2 year olds! My DS did this exact same thing to me recently. He just woke up and was this well-behaved kid who didn't give me attitude once, used excellent manners, and used the potty without reminding. I was pinching myself all day. LOL!

Congrats on your new LO! I still can't imagine going for a 2nd...

We didn't exactly "go for" a second. He, like DS1, was a jolly surprise. ;-)
