And I say severe because it is literally all over. His face, scalp, back, chest, stomach, arms, legs.

His face has gotten a bit better, but it's pretty bad everyplace else. Anyone else's baby have it this bad?

He's been to pediatricians for other reasons and they didn't seem concerned, just said it would come and go. He is 6 weeks old and has had it since about 2 weeks. The detergent I use to wash his clothes in is dye and perfume free. He does not get soap with baths, only a little shampoo on his hair.

Both his dad and I had and still have severe acne problems (me more than him).

thanks!

My ds had it very severe too. It is supposed to clear up at 8 weeks, and it did for him. This is when the hormone surge ends. Give it like 3 more weeks and you should see a clear face. I even tried bm on his face and it didn't work. You just have to wait it out.

My ds #1 had it pretty bad, and it made his skin raised and red all over, not just the bumps. I took him to his pedi and he gave me some creams to use (sample). Come to find out after using it, and it working that it contained steriods!!!! Aggggghhhh! I don't think I would of used it so liberally, but probably still used it a couple times to help clear up the severity, because my ds's seemed painful and pretty bad. I also had tons of skin issues as a kid, and got steriods for unbelievable excema, but my mom used it only on horrible flair ups, along with natural remedies like oatmeal in a bath, and no soaps!

thanks! I don't think it is heat rash, definitely zit-like with pus (gross, sorry). Or is it easy to confuse the two? It doesn't seem to bother him, or itch him or anything.

My daughter had it badly from 3 weeks to about 6 weeks, including the neck, chest, scalp and a few spots on limbs. I eliminated dairy, and this coincided with it clearing up. The ped didn't think it had anything to do with anything, but the dr. Sears Baby Book does mention that it can potentially be a sign of a food sensitivity when it's not just on the face. I did have horrible pregnancy acne that cleared up with delivery, so I wondered if I passed the hormones on to her via milk?

I think our dd had a combination of baby acne and contact dermatitis. Could your baby's skin be reacting to the detergents in your clothes or bedding? We ended up washing all of our laundry in dye-free/ fragrance-free detergent. That helped cut down on the severity of her acne. HTH
