So, we're talking to my mom. She nursed me for about 3 weeks or so, then fed me cow's milk formula (allergic) then soy formula. (Yeah, I feel bad for me, too.
) Anyway, she said she had no idea how I could drink the stuff, it smelled so horrible. She said she felt bad. Well, what choice what I have? Starve or eat the gross stuff, right? Well, I said, "Did you ever taste it?" She said no, she hadn't. I said, "So, you fed me something you never tasted yourself?" She said she never really thought about it.

I said, "Well, you tasted your breastmilk, right?" "No," she replied, "Why would I?"

Why wouldn't you?
Not a shred of curiosity? None?

I should have told her that I've used it for coffee when I ran out of goat or cow milk.

I have tasted everything that I have fed my DD. I tasted the formula when we were mistakingly supplementing and I tasted my breastmilk as well as any baby food that I gave her.

If I thought it was gross I usually wouldn't feed her the food. And formula is one of the grossest things I have ever tasted in my life.

I have tasted is sort of by accident when Bessy the cow leaking all over one time. But, I really like the idea of using it for coffee. Especially since I am dairy free right now! lol! Wonder if you could use it to make cheese! :LOL

I haven't but my husband has

He says it's really sweet :LOL

One of the reasons I won't feed my baby pureed baby food is because I can't stand to eat it myself...it's so gross to me...I can't bring myself to feed it to her.

Somewhere out there there is a page with breastmilk recipes. And I know Hathor has a bread recipe.

I tried to use it in my coffee once because it was in my fridge for a few days and I didn't want to totally waste it, but it was already gone. So I know what it tastes like sour.
Rice milk works just as well for me, though. I go through all this trouble to lactate the calories off, I don't want to re-consume them. :LOL

I used to love the babyfood fruits in the jar when my brother was a baby.
I'm going to try to make all my own, though.

Yep, I've tasted everything that I've ever fed to DS.

I tasted some of the Gerber pureed baby food that was given to us by a friend.
All those jars were given away during the postal carriers food drive.
: My little guy likes flavorful food.

I've heard that it's best to taste and smell your bm so that if you pump and it goes sour, you'll know before you give it to your baby. So yes, I've tasted mine. DH has too, lol. It's really sweet and does taste like melted ice cream. Never tasted any formula though. I can't get past the smell of that stuff.

Actually, I have tasted formula. When I was about 3 months pregnant or so, I got a can of it in the mail. I'm more curious than a cat, so I read the ratio, mixed some up, tasted it and ACK! I have licked tastier printer ink...but that's another curious story altogether. The formula tasted like pond water from a bucket of rusty nails.

DH has tasted, no drank breastmilk on numerous occasions. His latch ain't so hot, but he gets the milk anyway. He's done it to help my poor, overfull boobs, for pleasure and initially for curiosity.

It works pretty well in coffee, by the way. It's not so rich, but sweet...so it's closest comparison is using 2% milk and sugar.

I've tasted BM. Ditto. It tastes like melted ice cream.

I've tasted formula once. (As an adult, as a baby I got plenty) My mom was watching my dd and had run out of EBM. When I walked in the door she was trying to feed my dd formula and she was refusing to eat the nasty stuff. After I nursed her, I went to rinse out the bottle and got some of formula on my finger. I licked my finger because I was curious.
I had to rinse my mouth out because it was so gross.

Okay, this is funny. DH was out of town, errr, all the way in Canada, yesterday and today. At dinner he says, "Did you go to the Breastfeeding forum today?" I said no. He said, "I posted there, but you'll have to go find it for yourself." Well, later on in the meal, I mentioned that I posted on here about this conversation with my mom. Well, that's what HE posted about. :LOL

Here's his version: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=297019

I have never tasted formula. It just smelled so bad I couldn't eat it! My babies never seemed to mind it, though.

And I have tasted breastmilk, but I didn't like it. It was too sweet.

I don't really like milk. I put it on cereal, but I never just sit and drink a glass of milk.

I've always thought mine tasted like vanilla ricemilk.

And I was just thinking, the first milk that comes out after not nursing for a while is thinner than what comes down from "storage" later during a nursing, so maybe the fattier hindmilk would be better in coffee? :LOL
