I love my mother-in-law!

We've been talking about mammograms via email today, and I mentioned that I'll probably have to have my first once I wean this baby. Just to tweak her a little, I joked that maybe I ought to nurse for five or six years so as to postpone the test.

She came back with if the baby won't nurse that long, maybe I could become a milk donor for a few years instead.

Either she's really good at humoring my weird ideas, or she's not nearly as mainstream as she looks <g>.

Or you've taught her well!

My MIL was relived that I had to wean ds at 19 mos because of a medication I had to take long-term. But what she doesn't know is that I know have proof (studies) to convince my dr it's safe this time around!

I had a similar experience with my step-mom yesterday...

She said she'd spoken with my sis who told her I was thinking of using cloth diapers (my sis thinks this is a bit crazy). But then DSM tells me that she used cloth diapers...and that she breast fed both her babes!

I was pretty suprised, I wouldn't have thought she be supportive of either, but I was happy to hear it

Glad your MIL is on board, too (and that she seems to have a good sense of humor

While my MIL talks my ear off and is a very loud person, I'd rather that, since she breastfed her kids in the 60's when no one else was doing it (though she turned to formula when her daughter was losing weight and falling asleep while nursing) and she even bought my SIL some cloth diapers (which she never used, so they were handed down to us, yippee!). She totally doesn't think it was weird when I tandem nursed, since my SIL is still nursing her almost 3 year old. She may be loud, opinionated, forgets everybody's birthdays, and has wicked coffee breath, but she's a pretty cool MIL!

Now THOSE are some words I've never uttered....and never will.

I guess I will have to leave this thread and go start my own about horrible intrusive and judgemental MILs. Bye ladies!
