I am a fairly novice sewer, but last night I whipped up a new sling, maya wrap style. It is a cute fabric with bugs and frogs and it is a knit with a slight stretch to it. I'm sooo proud of myself....

Don't ya love it?!?! I made my own slings a few weeks ago - maya wraps and love them. The hardest part was finding rings that I could just pick up around here and not online.

Congrats!

Stephanie I got rings at home depot, I got 2 inch ones near the chain and rope. I think I'm going to make my son and some friends kids small slings for dolls and use 1.5 inch rings... Soo fun.

I got my rings at a store callled Klem's I think it's the only one - it was in the hardware section. I couldn't find them at Home Depot and the ones at the craft stores just didn't seem rugged enough for me. The ones that I got were okay for up to 2000 pounds. Online you can go to slingrings.com. What's it like using stretchy fabric? I've only tried wovens with ring slings

Melanie For me the strechy fabric has pros and cons. I really like how it feels and how it fits so comfy around ds. On the other hand I find tightening it to be not as easy because as I pull it stretches and I feel like I need to tighten it more. I need more time to get used to it. I feel like I need to start with the rings WAY up on my shoulder before I put ds in and tighten or else it pulls until the rings are near my belly button.
