I have been in a funk lately so my house hasn't been cleaned in X days. It looks as if a couple tornadoes came through followed by a hurricane. There is laundry everywhere, dirty dishes in the kitchen, toys, books, paper.....I would be extremely embarrassed if anyone came over. They probably wouldn't be coming in.

So today my plan is to get it fairly under control. I plan on doing all the laundry and the dishes (at least). I am going to do a quick pickup and put everything that is on the floor into a box to go through after I finish laundry and dishes. I am enlisting the help of my 4 year old DS. He wants to earn some money (.25 per chore) for the purple motorcycle train truck rocket ship he is saving for

Wish me luck!!

Oh good luck! I think my favorite thing about a messy house is how little time it takes to make a dent in it If you collect up your laundry, throw in a load, and start on the dishes you'll feel so good in no time. Don't forget to light a candle.

Today I'm not doing more cleaning than usual, but I am focusing on having a Really Great Mom day. We went out to play after breakfast and ended up taking a walk around the block - looked at puppies, cars, and rocks. I'm only allowed on the internet right now because ds is napping and I've already gotten lunch ready!

Hope the clean up is going well!!

Today is a major cleanup day for me too. We just moved in and I am still having a hard time getting a handle on things. I have been out alot school shopping recently which means things have started to fall apart again.

I find one thing that is helpful when things are starting to spin out of control (Or have already well spun!), is to make 3 whole house runs. I start with a garbage bag and go thru each room as quickly as possible to grab the obvious trash, then another time thru with a laundry basket to pick up all those dirty socks that the family couldn't be bothered to dispose of properly and then do a last one for dishes. It usually doesn't take more than 5 minutes to do each run and makes a huge difference in the amount to tackle per room.
