i didn't know Theresa's pattern wasn't avail. anymore, hmmmm.

I just got the fern and faerie pattern. I love it. You customize the number of stitches, gauge, etc. I made four so far and they fit PERFECT. they are a front-loading (legs) soaker.
The LTK original soaker isn't available but T has a new soaker pattern that is front loading legs. The other one was side loading, somewhat similar to the WHW, although not as trim. Perhaps you'd be better to try a front loading soaker if the WHW isn't fitting well? Fern and Faerie has a very basic free pattern. Wooly Wonder also sells a pattern. The Curly Purly has a free pattern on the site that is also side loading legs if you like that.
thanks. what is front loading vs side loading?
I think she means whether the leg openings face the front of the soaker, or the sides. I personally prefer the front-facing legs because they give more ease in the back for my guy's big cloth bum.

I really like Pamelamamas patterns at www.woolywonder.com

Leg hole position. Front-loading is like underwear--legholes in front. Side-loading is where the leg holes are at the sides.

Sorry for not being clear in my descriptions and thanks liawbh for the pictures. That's what I get for trying to sneak in some computer time while dd is awake! I agree that Pamela's pattern are awesome!
Glittergal, is it legal if I give you my pattern? I'm not using it and would be happy to give it to someone who'd like it. (I'd then erase it from my hard drive, so I don't think it would be a problem.

I do get rather anoyed with copyright infringement over the web.

Ladies lone their hard copis out all the time. If in a circle of friends one person has a book or magazine, nobody else needs to buy it, and responsible sharing happens.

However if you do it over the web there is always someone to tell you no, remove your message, etc.

I personally have never done this, but I have witnessed it.

I do not have any girlfriends, or belong to any fiber groups. I spend my life tending my children on our homestead. So my online circle is it for me, yet any sharing within it, is for the most part unacceptable.

IRL you could ask your friend to share her favorite soaker pattern, but if you ask someone to share via email the same pattern, it somehow crosses the line.

Nope, it's not a problem at all, that's perfectly fine and legal
(and very nice of you to offer, as well
)

I totally agree that copyright infringement is wrong (I'm a designer and I hate getting ripped off). In this case, I have had this pattern for two years and I've knit the soaker once, found it to be not to my liking and would be thrilled to pass it on to someone who could use it. I'm deleting the file from my computer and will not be using the pattern ever again. I don't think there's anything wrong with this but if there is something illegal about it, I'd welcome the information.
