I knit my DH socks last fall and he is in love. But I knit Thuja from Knitty with pf and size 6 needles. They were shredded in no time. I love knitting with worsted- it goes so much faster- but seriously- they were trashed so. stinking. quickly. Any suggestions for a good yarn for them? I am going to try to carry a strand of nylon with the yarn this time- but I am not convinced that will make a huge difference. I would also like to try a new pattern. I am also open to double stranding sock yarn to make more sport weight socks... those would probably hold up well- but maybe not be quite so fabulously warm though?

TIA!

I made several prs of Thuja with DB Cashmerino aran, and some stuff I got from AC Moore that was a similar blend of merino, cashmere, and microfiber. I never got any feedback if they held up, though. It is a nice pattern, but hard to find appropriate yarn.
