I need some input here about nursing and giving DS medication.

DS has hypothyroidism and takes thyroid replacement hormone every day. Typically synthroid is taken in the morning, on an empty stomach, about 20 minutes before eating breakfast. The medication has a tendency to bind to proteins and not metabolize properly if taken with food.
Until now, we have been giving it to him in the evenings, 20 minutes before bedtime. That way his stomach is mostly empty, and I can nurse him before he goes to sleep.
Yesterday the doc called with the results of his latest TSH test and his dosage needs to be increased, and she recommended that we start giving it to him in the mornings.
The problem is that the first thing he does in the morning is nurse, before either of us are fully awake, KWIM? I can't figure out how to give him his medicine in the morning on an empty stomach. Any thoughts?
You may need to do something else, like get up, give meds, make coffee and play or take a bath.
