i have no idea where to put this...so please move if necessary!

so we are going to texas at the end of the month and i need a double stroller. i have a 4 yr old and a 7 1/2 month old to ride in it. i have a single, heavier-than-an-umbrella-but-not-a-behemoth stroller. getting dd3 in and out is a nightmare, the storage isn't big enough, and dd4 can't see over the tray/cupholder. i usually sling dd4 and use the stroller to haul all of our stuff (i have 7 kids!) and when dd3 gets tired or dd4 starts wanting out of the sling, i LET (never force) them ride in the stroller.

whew. okay, so i need a double that will do all of that, but is less than $150. is that possible, do you have any req's and are there any to stay away from.

Are you flying, driving, using another mode of transportation? That greatly affects what kind of stroller you need. Also, where in TX are you going (plans?) since that will also affect my recs (I am a native texan). Finally does your baby like being in the stroller, or does sha mainly sleep in it (DS liked to sleep in the stroller and be in the sling or ergo when awake. DD was the opposite).

we are going to dfw area, will be driving our suburban down but taking the train while in the metro. we plan on going to the zoo and the aquarium, and are thinking about one more outing, just not decided on what we want to do. we'll be there for 6 days. she doesn't mind the stroller or the sling, but she does get tired of both so we switch. dd3 can walk and will want to walk, but when she gets tired (and naps) it would be nice to have a stroller that would accomodate her. she's 41" tall and weighs 34#.

when we get back, i'll need to use the stroller to walk off some of this extra weight i got as a present for breastfeeding LOL!

thank you anj!

I haven't test driven many doubles but I liked our maclaren. It folded up pretty small and was fairly easy to push even with different sized children (or only 1). It was fine on pavements and round the zoo but I would have liked something with bigger wheels if we had been going over a lot of bumpy ground.

The baskets were impossible to access when the seats were reclined, also the seats were quite narrow. My kids were looking squashed when they reached 4 and 2. That said we didn't use it much at that age.

I would defiantly look round for a used one. We paid £5 for ours, it would have been over £100 new.
