Hello,

I am looking for some resources on becoming vegetarian. Partcularly stories about becoming vegetarian and links to good sites about vegetarianism and facts on why meat is unhealthy etc. I have been contemplating changing this aspect of my lifestyle, currently I rarely eat meat and I am ready to take the next step. I was also wondering are you still considered vegetarian if you eat eggs? I am not sure if I can get my dh to give them up, but he originally was vegetarian, raised hindu, but now eats eggs, chicken and occasionally seafood and pork. Please help, any advice is welcome!

Thanks

Hi. Yep you are vegetarian if you eat eggs. You'd be an ovo vegetarian. If you consume milk and dairy you're lacto vegetarian, and if you consume both you are lacto-ovo vegetarian. Then there's vegans who consume zero animal products at all (and don't use wool or anything else that comes from an animal). The pork, chicken etc would mean your hubby is an omnivore as he's still consuming dead animal

Okay linkies. Try www.goveg.com. Theres a TONNE of fact sheets here: http://www.vegsource.com/articles/archive.htm and if you google exactly what it is you are after heaps will come up but use those 2 for starters. I'm sure others have better websites than I do.

Hi,

There are lots of websites and I think some really important ones are

http://www.veganoutreach.com if you go to their brochures page you can find a great brochure about becoming vegetarian and you can read it on line.

http://www.pcrm.org/ Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has some excellent fact sheets and articles about vegetarian living and nutrition.

Will try to add more later. yeah for you and the animals that you will be helping to save!!
