I nursed at my dh's promotion ceremony

and my husband didn't bat an eyelid. This was a military thing with all his superiors there. dd was crying to be fed and I wasn't about to leave. A few of his male colleagues moved but I felt like it was to give me privacy rather than I made them uncomfortable. And another female colleague came up and told me she was nursing her baby too. It was so cool. This is no granola crowd!

My husband's come a long way from being very nervous at first when I NIP. I used to be nervous too but more about the mechanics of keeping dd latched on than anything else. Last week I was nursing dd in a carpark before we put her in the car seat and cars kept stopping for our spot thinking we were leaving and dh got annoyed at them and YELLED "she's nursing the baby" at them echoing it all around the carpark. Hey, I'm more discreet than that!

IME, it's the older Sargents that seem to get their "panties" in a wad about breastfeeding. DH's platoon sgt when he was a platoon leader just about tripped over himself trying to leave the room when I sat down to nurse Eva two years ago at Thanksgiving! I found it rather amusing, because I'd never, ever seen him uncomfortable about ANYTHING before. Heck, I don't think I've seen him uncomfortable since then, either.

Now, I'm thinking evil thoughts about how I can make sure to nurse Nadia the next time he's around.
