We have a new cash/evelope system and I wanted to buy something online for dd from the kids' fund. I got out my cc and then put it back again because we had promised we would not use it again unless we absolutely could not avoid it. I looked closer on the website and found that I could print out an order form and send them a check instead!

It will take longer for the order to come but that's okay. It felt soo great to say no!

What I've done in the past is create a credit card envelope and before I put something on the credit card, I move cash from that envelope to the credit card envelope to pay for it. Then at the start of the month, I count the credit card envelope and withdraw that much less cash and use that to refill the envelopes.

I do this too, for online purchases I move the money online from my bank account to my CC, so it's not technically a CC purchase (but I still get my Rewards points

Good job!! CC is a hard habit to break. But once you are out of the habit, it seems foreign to use them and especially to pay a CC bill- ewwwww.

The key to not paying interest is to pay the credit card bill in full every month.

We charge nearly everything to get airline miles (we fly a lot!), but we pay the bill in full every month because we want nothing to do with the interest charges!

BUT if that system doesn't work for you - Pick a system and stick with it!
