Yesterday I accidently shut my 4 year old dd hand in the car door when we were going to the grocery store. I was so upset and felt so helpless and GUILTY.
:
Fortunately, it was okay (a little swollen) and there was no bruising, but it left a cut that bled for a little while. She was out playing baseball the next day. I, of course, cried and cried.
Just thinking about it, made me misty.

oh, I am so sorry. I am glad her hand is doing better. You will probably think of it long after she has forgotten.

When my dd was a baby, I closed her fingers in a door jam....I was mortified. The dr. daid babies and childrens hands are quite pliable

Take care and don't be too hard on yourself!

Im not sure this will make you feel any better, but my mom actually chopped the tip of my finger OFF in the car door when I was about 6yrs old. She had to pick it up and bring it to the hospital with her! I can only imagine how she must have felt- she said she almost fainted and the nurse asked if she was okay
anyway it didnt hit the bone so it grew back- all deformed but okay for the long run. So the point of my story is could be worse!!!
hugs

One time, my dd (13 months at the time) was pulling on my legs while I was eating. I turned with a steak knife in my hand, and it slipped out of my hand! It slid right down her face. Luckily she barely got a scratch. But, I cried for ever it seems! She looked at me like "Uh, why are YOU crying?" She didn't even know she had gotten scratched.
