Can anyone help me? My dog has a serious attachment disorder. If I leave thre house in the truck, she's fine. If i go for a walk or visit the neighbors, she poops and pees in the house. today she did it and i came home and cleaned it up, went back to my neighbor's house and came home 20 minutes later to more poopon the floor. Up until last year she was totally potty trained, but we also always put her outside when we went for a walk (she still barked the whole time) I live in an apartment now so I can't leave her out and my landlord is getting complaints from the neighbors

Can you crate her when you leave the house? We have a dog that drives me bonkers, he poos/pees in the house if we arent in the same room as him! Anyways, we umbilical cord him with the leash, and crate him when we are gone.

I can second the kennel-training! It is a wonderful way for a dog to have their own personal comfort zone and quiet place while you're gone - Plus, they won't poo in such a confined place. Not only do you NOT want your dog peeing and pooing in the house, you don't want any destructive & harmful behaviours, either - like chewing and digging.

How old is she?

Can you put her in a bathroom when you leave? And one more thing (although others might be opposed to this), there is medication that dogs can take to lessen anxiety - if she's so stressed that you can't leave even for short periods, you might want to talk to your vet.

She's a black lab, 8 years old, about 55 pounds.

I thought about the kennel. Maybe this is my issue, but she was in a kennell for LITERALLY the first 6 months of her life. We got her when we lived in Houston and then suddenly moved with dh's job and we planned on kennel training her, but due to a whole host of factors, she had to spend an unreal amount of time in the kennel and she hated it. She barked her head off the whole time. she wasn't even really potty trained until we moved to michigan and in with my in-laws (fenced in yard AND their own potty trained dog did the trick) well, she never really lost her intense HATRED for being left and also the kennell. So, not only do I feel guilty for sticking her in a kennell, I really don't think it would go over well. Maybe it's just me and she'd like it? bathroom might work, it's big--no windows though.(good)

Where's the pet forum anyway?
