My daughter hasn't nursed in almost a week. She last nursed last Wednesday, on her third birthday. She is talking about it occasionally and sometimes says, "Nurse!" in her sleep, but she hasn't asked at all. I'm sad and proud and relieved all at once. :

Congrats!
My dd is turning 3 this Aug and she has been weaning...I know I should 'not offer, not refuse'...but I DO offer and 70% of the time she turns me down...so I guess it is happening!

My son weaned right before his 3rd bday. I was pg with his brother, and completely out of milk-- had been for several month. He just basically stopped nursing over time. He tried to latch several times while I was pg, and couldnt really remember how. Since his brother was born he has latched on twice I think, and actually nursed one of those times, but I still really consider him done. he just wants to know that they are avaliabel to him as well, and I am fine with that--- not fine enough that I would actually encourage him to tandem mind you, lol but fine enough not to refuse if hes just curious

it was a little bittersweet for me-- just another sign he is growing up! he also started sleeping in his own room right before my second was born. big boy i tell ya
You don't "need" to practice any weaning techniques, including "don't offer, don't refuse." CLW is an excellent option! You might want to check out the CLW forum if you haven't already:

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...eply&p=3180312
