that doesn't have to have special bolts in the ceiling, and doesn't cost $80 just for the support bar. Is this possible? Can I just get a standard pressure mounted pullup bar and attach lycra to it?
Our swing is a hammock chair swing from Target, it cost me $40 total. But its hanging outside form our tree ATM. I'd go for a cheap swing and then just look for some way to mount it. I wouldn't go with a pressure mount, but thats because I know my kids would probably knock it down and I can't imagine how painful a wooden bar to the head would be if it fell with them in it.
WQe did get a pressure bar and it supports I think 75lbs before you need to screw it in. I can hang from it and it doesn't budge and I'm 135. But, initially we were going to put two enormous eye bolts in the doorframe header and hang the trapeze from that. Someone gave us their bar (!!!) so we didn't have to do that.
If you use bolts you want to put some rings on them and then use s-hooks to attach the swing to the solid rings. Make sense? Otherwise you won't get a smooth gliding motion when the swing goes back and forth.
we have one in our play room. it just screws right into the support beam thinggies in the celing. It holds up to 200 lbs. on here the last little clip at the bottom of the post is a short video clip of ours. it was fairly cheap and from leaps and bounds I think.
WE hve a regular swing that our OT found at toys r us of all places, cost about 25 bucks. Holds over 100lbs so I can swing with him, but it's fairly narrow.
