I am in the Middle East right now, and there is a war going on... I have run into my own cloth diapering crisis, but it the middle of me trying to figure it out, it occurred to me that there are probably hundreds of mothers in Gaza having serious diapering problems then me at the moment, and I wanted to figure out a way that I could help them. I was talking to other moms about how best to approach this idea, and one mom suggested that I find an organization that helps children in warfare situations... So far no one is willing to help. My heart cant help but ache for the mothers who have lost their husbands, their homes, and pretty much everything they own. No one in Gaza is making much of an income right now, and even when the war is over, they will be having to rebuild their homes and directing their income towards larger problems. I was hoping to help alleviate some of the problems that are associated with having to diaper a baby with disposables during war with no proper means of disposal. When there is heavy fighting and air raids from Israel, moms in Gaza cannot go out to buy diapers, it would mean risking their lives. So far I have found some individuals who are willing to donate their diapers, as well as a wholesale distributor who is willing to work out extremely low prices on diapers... Almost 12000 homes have been destroyed in Gaza, so I am estimating that I would be trying to collect about 300,000 diapers in order to help some of those babies who do not have access to diapers, not just cloth diapers, I mean diapers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much for reading =)

There is the Middle East Children's Alliance, but they seem to just want money to buy the supplies. It can be hard to donate used clothing to aid organizations in times of crisis, because with the crisis, the distribution of things is not always possible, and what I've heard is that things like boxes of used clothing just get in the way.

There do seem to be organizations that take cloth diaper donations, but they seem mostly to be distributed to people in need in the countries where they collect.

thanks =) I was thinking maybe I could try to get a bunch of handy mama's to sit around and sew some diapers ( i suck at that) and then I could get them over there.... Im not far, like a 20 -40 minute drive depending on traffic, but I dont have a car so I would have to take a bus. I live just outside Tel Aviv... Do you think I could get some companies to donate materials so I could get them sewn? Or maybe some moms on Etsy might be willing to help? I have talked to a lot of companies, and Jakes Diapers sent me a form to fill out, and I feel soooo terrible I havent had the time to write anything down! I think, mainly, because I am not working with a larger organization I feel like no one will take me seriously... which so far no one has. So if anyone else has any ideas, i am all ears! I hate to say it, but I dont think that the fighting is over. Hamas is still digging tunnels and bringing in weapon, and israel is still israel and hasnt lifted the blockade at all, so basically those 6 weeks of rockets and a couple thousand people died for nothing.... How can I help those little babies who did nothing???
