The only way i learned was having someone physically show mw, help show me where my hands were to go , and it still took a while.

I could never learn from a pic bf that though now that i know the basics, i can get alot out of a book, etc.

Is there a yarn shop in your area? sometimes they are delighted to teach you how to knit.

I agree-- call a yarn shop and ask for a lesson. That said, if there's not one near you, there are a few other options. You can look up Stitchnbitch groups on yahoo and see if there's one in your area. Someone there could show you. Also, there are some very good starter books. I think The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville is one of the best out there-- very clear photos and instructions. And there's a website, www.knittinghelp.com , which has great videos to show you how to do it.

Welcome to the fold! Knitting is wonderful.
