Just some thoughts....

Keeping in mind that i had lots of trouble even getting started...

I got to 8 weeks because it took us that long to even get "it right"
and I looked at my baby and knew I wasn't ready to stop...

Then I thought that if she had teeth that would be wierd...wouldn't that hurt?
and then I looked at my baby and knew I wasn't ready to stop....

Then I thought that when she started solids that would take over her need...
and then I looked at my baby and knew I wasn't ready to stop....

Then I thought that it woudl be really wierd if she could actually ASK for it...
and then I looked at my baby and knew I wasn't really stop...

Then I thought that a year would be a good time to wean...
but then winter came and I figured she would need the immunities
and then I looked at my baby and knew I wasn't ready to stop....

Now she's 27 months and still going strong. Her extended family keep asking her if she's going to stop and she just laughs at them with that, "now why woudl I want to do that?" laugh!

I guess my point is twofold-
1) I never would have predicted that I would have gone this long and I dont' regret it at all so I would encourage new moms to not put an early "limit" on how long they will want to nurse
2) My DD is still my baby and since I don't have a problem with the situation, why would I want to deny her something that is so good for her?

thank you for sharing that. i know in this forum there is often discussion as to what is and what isn't CLW. i think you just wrote the most beautiful definition there is. how lucky your baby is to be "looked at" that way.
love to you both.
