I feel so naive. Dh & I just had our baby there this week, and in the PKU test room I finally noticed the "Circumstraint" and pictures on the wall associated with circumcisions. I hadn't though our hospital performed RIC. For my own sake, I'm glad I found this out in the last hour of my last stay there for my last baby, otherwise I always would have always wondered when I heard a baby crying if he'd just been circumcized.
It just amazes me that through our whole stay there, the drs/nurses are so concerned that babe is breathing, healthy, peeing/pooping, etc - every little aspect of babe's health is under a microscope, yet they will forcibly rip off a part of a new baby's little body for no good reason, with all the risks that entails (and human rights issues, of course).
I will be writing to the hospital, I think it's sick they profit from this (the nurse said it's expensive to get boys circ'd there as the hospital collects a $150 fee, and then there's the regular fee to pay). At least no one solicited me or dh to get any of our ds's circ'd.
*sigh* It makes me so sad and angry. I look forward to the day when RIC is illegal.
