I think UC is the way to go. I am a Midwifery student but my goal is to educate women and empower them and work my way out of my job. My goal will be that women who chose to use me as a provider will learn enough about birth and trust in their bodies that I will sit on my hands in another part of the house, clean for them or knit while they birth. Clean up, go home and congratulate them 2 years later when I get the birth announcement on the new addition to their family that was UC'ed without me anywhere near.

So, there is this project. Called the EMBRACE project. At first glance it seems that it has nothing to do with UC'ing or birth for that matter. BUT, I am POSITIVE that this education and introduction to self esteem and their bodies as natural, beautiful and values and boundaries CREATES YOUNG CONFIDENT WOMEN WHO CHOOSE NATURAL BIRTH AND EVENTUALLY TO UC!

It might mean traveling to the MANA conference or contacting my school to get info on training and how to start a program in your area BUT I BELIEVE STRONG WOMEN WHO UC ARE THE KEY TO MENTORING YOUNG WOMEN AND TEENS as future confident women trusting their bodes and birth and they will be the revolution I think we are looking for.

First hand experience is wonderful to share with pregnant women. I like to ask a UC mama to my Birth info Gatherings to tell their stories and bring up questions about UC and.

that is just great! I'd love to do something like that here on Guam, we soo need it. Not sure who'd be able to teach the classes though... Are other midwifes running those classes?
