Ds has braces and I think it would help him see how he needs brush around those darn things. But I don't want him to swish with food coloring and SLS. Something other than fruit? I don't want to encourage the sugar to sit on his teeth if he doesn't get it all off, esp before bedtime.

Products for dental use have saccharin, xylitol, aspartame, or the like for sweet flavor, instead of sugar that can cause damage to teeth.

The ADA (American Dental Association) used to provide color pellets (just food coloring, no SLS or other stuff) that children can use to see what they're skipping over when brushing.

I was one of those kids in school who took home the pellets, was mortified how much plaque and grodyness I was skipping over, so now I brush twice a day, very, very, well

No cavities!
