Would you be dressed? Is your house clean? Would you let cameras in?

Oprah is always surprising people at their homes, lol! Like yesterday Nate showed up at their homes and the women are all dressed really nicely and their houses are immaculate. Was this a set up? There are really people like this?? My house looks like a BOMB hit it. Sure I can clean it up but I cant ever keep it clean. If you were to come in right now you would find a naked 2yo, that is, if you could even get in through the front door, because I have bins and bags waiting to go outside to the garage and goodwill, and then if you saw MY bedroom, you could fill a dyson with all the dust and debris since we just took all the furniture out... not to mention I am always in sweats.

And you?

I wouldn't be there. I'm at work.

Usually it wouldn't be a problem. But now the place is a mess! Unfolded laundry, sink full of dishes, beds unmade. I have my good weeks and my bad weeks, and this is a bad one. Ho hum.

At this very moment, I'd let people in. My house is picked up, the kitchen is clean, and I'm actually dressed. My son isn't dressed though, but if I heard people in the driveway, I could throw his clothes on him quickly, like I always do when we get surprise company.

I probably wouldn't answer my door!
Today I'm dressed and even have makeup on. The house is a big mess though and dd is sleeping.

My front room is always immaculate. If you came over right now, yes I am dressed to shoes, makeup & earrings. The family room needs to be vacuumed (kids had popcorn this morning) but other than that, yeah Oprah can come on over.

No one would answer 'cause we're at work!

I *think* the house looks ok, though. I took ds to dc this morning, so I know the house can't look worse than when I left this morning!

If Oprah went to my house, she probably wouldn't be able to get the inside door open because the doorknob is from 1797. Then her camera man would fall through the old wood floor with his heavy camera. If they did make it in using the secret push/turn/spin around combo on the door knob, they'd better not be taller than 6" since my ceilings are quite low, although they are higher at one end of the room than the other due to the floor slant.

I live in a a beatrix potter style house, at least that's how I like to think of it.

If she came to my work, though, I'd be very pleased. It's gorgeous here and smells like the spiced chestnut candle from william sonoma.

Well, that's just not fair. My work is icky and ugly and it smells like ciggy's from the morons who don't understand that just because you are outside, when you are leaning against the building, we can smell your cigarette smoke!

I'd be hiding in the back room with the lights off! Nah, my house isn't THAT bad at the moment. But I do not care for unannounced visits-- at all. I don't know anyone without a cell phone. not one. So there's really no excuse for not calling first in this day and age. It's just courteous. So anyway if I did answer the door I still wouldn't be happy about it. But maybe I'm just grumpy and should spend more time yelling at people to get off my lawn.

if oprah came by our house, she'd be horrified probably. We are way more interested in function than style. same goes for my clothes. And my hair is always a mess.

Hmm, the kids and I are dressed, my hair is washed and blow-dried, and the house is pretty messy. At least we're out of our pajamas and clean, but I'd be horrified to see Oprah at my door right now. In fact, the FedEx man was just here, and I scurried to pick up the shoes and toys that were all over the entryway.

I think it's a little unfair for Oprah to do this, considering she probably hasn't had to clean her house in years. Goodness knows that if I had her money, I'd hire an entire staff of people to clean up after my crew!

OMG right now, I'd hide behind the door secretly shooing you away and hoping you don't hear the subtle whispers under my breath about my disaster zone of a house.

Right now I'm going through clothes for donations and my bedroom is a cyclone happened twice. The kitchen is a disaster with a sink of dishes from today, garbage that needs to go out. Reno's in my bathroom are 3\4 done but it's dusty and ugly right now. The walls need paint upstairs and my living room looks like the sky rained down 2 tons of toys on it.

*I'm telling you those toys are conspiring against me, they are breeding and multiplying at night. Chanting, lets drive the female flesh bag crazy, she walks around barefoot all the time...hurry run under her feet, trip her, trip her we don't want to go back to toybox solitary confinement...* I swear I've lost my marbles today...:

Right now, since I swept and put the dishes away, sure, lol. Even this morning I could have let people in, I'd just have had to move stuff off the kitchen table to be able to see them as it always ends up a "shelf" instead of a table...somehow... I was dressed early this morning, yes.

Oprah, oh, it's definitely all staged. I don't think the actual person like Oprah or Nate comes first, but I do think someone from the show gets over there or calls to "survey the scene" for lighting, pictures, how neat it is. Definitely!

there is no way in hell I'd let cameras in to my home. I have a mountain of dishes in the kitchen, there is a basket of dirty laundry in the living room, along with a bunch of books, papers and supplies for my classes. My house is probably an environmental hazard. I can't stand when it's dirty, but hey, I'm taking 16 hrs and my DP has not been helping around the house because he's been sick. I am dressed, but that's only because I have class (I'm home for lunch)

AND I have no children! we do have two cats that pull their toys out of the toy basket and don't put them back but cat's don't write on the wall or leave their legos in the middle of the floor.

It's 10 p.m. here. Kids are asleep, dh is at a meeting. The house is clean (clean laundry on couch needs to be folded though, waiting for a phone call or something so I can multi-task). I am presentable but not fashionable. Am drinking kaluha and milk. Fridge is empty (and I already shopped this week so I have nothing to offer Oprah but rice cakes or chocolate chips unfortunately (plus something from the bar.

My entire apt is a complete disaster, and I'm sitting at the puter in my panties and nothing else. My boobies hurt from pregnancy and I can't stand anything on them. Really.

I wouldn't let Oprah in my house. Anyone else is more than welcome to come in.

The house looks okay. I'm in the study nursing the babe to sleep and the older two are in the kitchen building fairy houses (with glitter glue ). There is a basket of dh's clean laundry on the couch.

I'm in a black t shirt and mens' sleep boxers. They do look like shorts though.

I'm dressed nicely because I had to work this morning. My son however is stark naked, as he usually is around the house.

Our house looks pretty decent minus the toys DS has already left out in the living room. But whatever you do, don't go into my bedroom. I've been doing laundry for two days without putting it away .. so I have a HUGE pile of clean laundry that needs to be hung up and put away. My room looks like a bomb hit.

So Oprah would find me looking cute, a totally naked 5 year old, transformers strewn across the living room and I'd have to try my best to keep her out of my bedroom.

Well, if you came here now, you would find me fresh out of the shower, dressed but barefoot. Ds he'd be dressed too, the house is kinda clean, but we just moved in a week or 2 ago and most of ds' toys are still in boxes. But, there are a ton of toys (cars and blocks) spread out around the living room floor. I'd probably let a camera in, but most of the time I just don't care how people look at the house.

Now, if you had arrived 30 minutes ago, you would have found me and ds in our pajamas, yarn and knitting supplies and such strowed out around the living room and our dirty lunch dishes still laying out. You also might have caught dh who ran home and was trying to take the bathroom door (ds locked it) off the hinges and not too happy...
