I am constantly switching shampoos and cond, because I have dry, thick hair. What is it that you all use? can someone please explain what I should use (and why for each ingredient) and how much? Also, how do you condition your hair? I really need hep getting it smooth to get a brush through it and it is just shoulder length!

thanks for any and all advice!

I have really thick wavy just-past-my-shoulders hair and I've went no-poo. I make a baking soda paste with bs and water in my palm. Massage my scalp and on down with it. Rinse with warm water and then pour vinegar on it. I know some just leave it at that, but I do a quick plain water rinse afterwards...I can't even begin to tell you how managable and soft my hair is from this. Much moreso than any conditioner has ever made it.

I do b/s and a mild acv rinse. Some use dry bs sprinkled on wet hair, some use a paste, some dilute it to a liquid with water & pour it on. Scrub, then rinse as usual.

Or, you can use a bar of handmade soap if you really like the bubbles of shampoo but want something without all the unpronounceable ingredients. I got a bar of goatmilk soap from a soaper friend, that soap made the best shampoo bar... I go back and forth between the b/s, the soap, and just rinsing with water while massaging the scalp.

All you need for the rinse is 1tbs. apple cider vinegar for each cup of water. I also rinse with plain water after, occassionally I skip it and don't really see a difference. My hair stays cleaner longer, several days, than it did with shampoo. No split ends or dryness and my scalp is less irritated too.
