If someone gave you a dog and it turns out that....

she's freaking pregnant how pissed off would you be??? My dog had puppies yesterday. Funny thing I didn't even know she was pregnant. We've only had her a month and teh previous owners didn't say a thing about her being with pups. He did come by about two weeks ago and said she was getting big and asked if we had let another dog get at her. I said that wasn't possible cause she's a house dog mostly plus dogs only get pregnant when in heat. he said oh okay well mayb she's just getting fat. Nope, she was pregnant and I think he knew the entire time but hoped to lay falt with us. Excuse me but I can do the math. 2 months to carry the pups and she's only been here a month. When he gave her to us he said she had her heat like 2 weeks ago. So now I have 6 puppies and a tired mama dog. I am suppose to go away for teh summer at teh end of the month and won't be back until school starts. I am so pissed caus eI really think they knew about it. So now I have to rethnk redo my entire summer. Of course we were gonna take her with us but I can't take her and puppies so I might have to miss my dh's graduation cause someone gave us a knocked up dog, okay vent over. That was just really rude.

Ugh, good luck!

If it's any consolation, we found a dumped dog and she had 9 puppies a week later. It really wasn't as difficult as I'd thought. I don't know what you'll do about travelling, though. Yikes. Is there a local high schooler you could pay to come help out or someone to housesit for you?
That is really rude. It's one thing to get a dog, another thing to get a pregnant dog- that you didn't know was pg, even. Have you talked to the previous owner about this?
Very rude, but you now have cute puppies!
It's entirely possible that they didn't know she was preg when they gave her to you. She may have heated 2 weeks before, and maybe she had the pups early (there's a range like with humans too...though not sure what it is). You can't really tell that a dog is 2 weeks pregnant.

Just another perspective.

Or they could be jerks and known but didn't tell you.

Yes dh talked to him they are both in the same place all he could do was apologize and say he didn't know. I sugested his wife(shes here where I'm at) help take carse of them but she won't do it as she was the reason they had to get rid of the dog in teh first place. She told him that if he didn't get rid of her before he left thats he would dump her at the pound that's how we ended up with her.

I suppose but they did have her a month after heat plus they had bred her before so I think they would have recognized it. I mean it wasn't a total shocker cause when he pionted out how fat she was I took notice but since he swore that they had kept her in the garage during her heat and I knew she hadn't had it with me I just thought she was overeating.
As far as cute puppies they are no consulation for not being able to go be with my Dh this summer. I am trying to work something out with my neighbors though, wish me luck. I do have three of the pups spoken for at least.
Maybe someone could come house/ pet sit for you?
Someone did this to us with a cat once and it sucked. 9 kittens that needed homes. I hope it all works out for you, unexpected pets are no fun at all.
LOL I can't help it, this reminds me of that episode of Roseanne where her neighbor tries to give dj a dog and roseanne calls tells her husband that she's going to shove the skanky little dog down her throat

I hadn't even gotten as far as spaying yet we had barely got her and she was preggo. She probably will be.
Ugh, sorry about your knocked up dog. When I was about 11, we had the same thing happen to us. Except my parents bought a dog from the humaine society that was supposedly spayed by them. She had 9 puppies a few weeks later. I was the one to discover them, when I went outside to let our dog in, and freaked out when I saw what I thought were rats infesting her dog house. My parents brought the dog inside with 4 pups, she had 4 more during the night, and had the ninth in the back of the car on the way back to the humaine society early the next morning. :p It kind of sucked, because she was a fantastic dog. We just weren't able to care for a litter of pups.
Where are you and what kind of pups are they?
My.Gawd.

Jeca... I"m so sorry you have to deal with this! I would TOTALLY freak out.

A bucket of water works....

Oh wait... I forget.. this is the happy-kitty-fuzzy-glowing-land.

:LOL

Gawd what a jerk.

Its entirly possible that she was preggo and they didn't know it. Our cockers generally don't start showing until they are about 3weeks from delivery...up until then it's pretty hard to tell esp with the ones who have had litters before.

If they did know that's sucky of them to do it.

Tavelling with pups is possible. Just need a cozy box and some blankets in the backseat or the floorboards.
