If you got stretch marks, when did you get them? I didn't get them with DS, but he was born at 32 weeks. I'm nearly 30 weeks now and don't yet feel like my skin is stretched to the limit. My mom got stretch marks just hours before she went into labor with me, so I know it can happen at anytime. Just wondering if you get them at the beginning, middle, or end of pregnancy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I got them with my first baby around 39-40 wks. Probably right after I bragged to someone about how I didn't get any haha. My son was born 9 days after edd so i got them all in the last 2 weeks i was pregnant. I haven't gotten any through 3 more pregnancies, though.

With my son, I didn't get any until AFTER he was born. No one tells you that you can get them from rapid weight LOSS, too! I totally got cheated on that. I didn't have any the last time I looked (during labour), and then the first time I looked at my belly after he was born, I was covered in them <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

I didn't get any with my first. Well maybe a couple really small marks on my hips. I can barely see them. My second I started to get them at about 30 weeks and they got progressively worse. They are right below my belly button and are pretty bad. I went 41 weeks with both of them and gained about 30 pounds both times.

I got them starting at 12 weeks. I was still LOSING weight then from all the vomiting. And well, they just got worse. Seriously, my stomach is one giant stretch mark. That's alright though, I've come to love them.

Yep, got them late last time, like 37-38 weeks, but this time I started noticing them a little earlier, like 36 weeks.

Around 36 weeks. I'm 39+ now, and that's when the ones on my side (the only ones I have) are getting darker.

My answer is EXACTLY like Redebeth - they came immediately after bragging about not getting them. It was definitely in the last couple of weeks. Sigh. They have lightened significantly in the past 1.5 years, but they're still noticeable. My mom said, "smile, you earned them!".

After the birth. I got a few small ones on my breasts when my milk came in. No stretch marks anywhere else. They've pretty much dissapeared.

earlier in my first preg my hips spread and I got a few small marks there. however, I was so happy that my belly was holding up so well.... until about 35 or 36 weeks. Then one morning I woke up and went in to go to the bathroom. As I finished washing my hands at the sink I looked up at the mirror. There, a couple inches off to the side of my belly button and 1 1/2 inch long dark purple canyon. I was in disbelief! In the weeks following I became littered with stretch marks.<br><br>
and just so you know NONE of the lotions or creams work in the slightest. As long as your skin isn't horribly, blisteringly, dry nothing is going to help. In fact, on all of those product labels it even says in fine print, "this product does not prevent or reduce the occurance or appearence of stretch marks."<br><br>
I thought I was out of the woods at 8 months because I had none and my mother never had any (even with my brother being 2 weeks late) but, I was horribly wrong. Hate to be the negitive nancy... thats just how it worked for me. Hope you are more fortunate!

With DD, they didn't show up until 30-some weeks. Then they were EVERYWHERE. DS started giving me more around 24 weeks. *sigh*

Only after I lost the pregnancy weight did the stretch marks emerge. So, 6 wks post-partum, or something like that. I got them only on my thighs, and only from my first pregnancy-- didn't acquire any new ones after dd was born, and I'm hoping for the same experiencce this time as well.

Same here. My breast were ENORMOUS by the time I gave birth. Went from a small C to G cup by the time my milk came in.
