I'm so curious. Our son's parts have a "seam" that runs the length from his anus to the tip of his uncirc'd foreskin.

It's been that way since birth and I thought it might fade but it's still the same as it was from day one. Has anyone seen this on a grown man?

Is this a normal part of little boys that disappears as they grow?

So did he? No, really, don't tell us! That would be TMI! I work with a woman who once told us her DH's sperm count (they were having fertility problems at the time). I hadn't met him then, and I still haven't, and I know that when I do, all I'll be able to think of is his sperm count. You know, like the Mole in the Austin Powers movie!

Having shared that totally OT little story with you, I will say that my DS certainly has that same seam, so it's normal for little boys, but I haven't checked DH for it!

It's called the raphe and yep, it's from when they are 'turning boy' in utero.

I'm baffled that you mamas with DHs/male SOs don't know your men physically enough to have noticed it. (Not being rude, just surprised!) I know every little mole (and zit, but that is a TAO thread) on DH.

Jett's raphe, and the little 'V' on the underside of his glans (as seen through his foreskin) is actually rotated to the left. I guess it's just a variation of normal...he functions perfectly. Those midnight baby erections are a telltale indicator.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was from his forming but I'd never noticed it on dh. And, I double checked and, nope, he either didn't have a seam or it faded.

Honey, if you read this don't be embarassed.

I must admit I was a little surprised too. I've "inspected" everything on dh (and other boyfriends) quite closely.

The turning one way or the other is normal too, as in "sir dresses to the left" when getting measured for trousers.

my DH doesnt have it, but my BIL does

I only know that becasue my nephew has it, and I noticed it while changing his dipe, and I was shocked and asked my sister if he was hurt or cut or why he had a scar there. she said all little boys have it, and her husband still has his

I told her that all little boys did not have it (I changed lots of dipes when I worked day care) but maybe some do. interesting.

Yeah, I guess that does sound kind of odd, doesn't it? :LOL But between the person in question being circ'd, other parts of the anatomy in question being covered in hair and the fact that when I was "viewing" the anatomy in question I certainly wasn't there for "scientific" purposes - I just couldn't remember! (gee, how long before this thread gets pulled now?) I knew it was there in some regions, but not in others. Does that make any sense? The last time I saw DS', however, I was carefully wiping poop off of it.

Hey honey, when you read this thread - sorry for discussing your anatomy in (semi-vague) detail!

Good point, LadyBug. On circ'ed men, it is missing anywhere past the circumcision scar.
Just another thing our lovely men lost without their consent. (growl)

There are many other places on the body where raphes can appear--anywhere the skin comes together from two sides during embryonic/fetal development. The dent in the center of the upper lip is the most noticeable one.

Both my boys have it - dh and ds. Dh's is below the circ scar, poor fella. Ds's goes not quite to the tip of the foreskin, but only on the 'under' side. Their's are both quite pronounced. Dh says most guys have them, but he's never really done a survey (LOL). Also says it's part of the symetry that includes the hair growth etc. in mammals. Hrmm
