I had a miscarriage on 7/5/06 at 8 weeks. It wasn't that big of a surprise as I was having no symptoms whatsoever. It was really fun being pregnant though and we were sooo happy. The miscarriage itself was a little hard but luckily lasted only the length of a normal period and only with pain in the beginning.
I started have cramps the night before, all night long, and then by midafternoon the next day I was spotting. I had not done any bloodwork yet and hadn't even had my first appt with my midwife. I called my mw and she recommended going to the doc for an ultrasound. But by the time I made the appt for a few hours later, I was already bleeding a lot and not just spotting any longer. So I just cancelled my doc appt as my mw agreed there wasn't much the doc could do. I passed about 3 big pieces and that hurt pretty bad that evening and that was that. Then just normal period.
I was pretty sad but got a lot of support from my sisters and husband. And I got some accupuncture from the lady I work for as well as an herbal tincture to take and I am pretty sure that is what made it so easy for my body to get back to normal. Surprisingly for me and my irregular cycles, I had the miscarriage on the day my period would be due, and then just started my next period exactly on time too. So I am thrilled that my body has recovered and is right on track.
I ended up having to get a rogam shot in the ER about 2 days later because my mw (who had just helped my sis with a homebirth) realized I was probably a negative blood type like my sis and would need the rhogam. So thankfully she remembered, since I didnt know by blood type, and recommended the shot.
So I am really in a state of thankfulness and excited about ttc again. It was my 3rd month ttc when we got pregnant so at least now I know we can get pregnant. I will be ovulating in early sept. so I am sooo excited about a may-june baby!!! Good luck for everyone ttc this month.
