as the title says, i'm planning on dividing some perennials, and they will need a good home. does anyone want:

--yellow irises (i have LOTS of these)
--hosta (i've got several goodly clumps that could be divided)
--rudbeckia (i have LOTS of these too)
--daylilies (both regular orange and a fancier kind that's kinda maroon with a yellow throat)
--shasta daisies

and conversely, does anyone else have any perennials they are looking to divide and maybe swap? i'd love to find some lilies-of-the-valley and other shade-loving ground cover

we're in cranston, in case that influences how far people are willing to travel for the plants

I would love some yellow irises. I'll hunt around my yard and see what we have.
You are welcome to raspberries and blackberries but I don't know how to divide them. Besides that the only thing that seems to thrive in the back is a huge spearmint.

I'm probably too far for the OP, but if anyone closer wants to trade I have a few extra lilac bush shoots, black raspberry runners, and orange lillies. I'm also in search of flat fieldstone (NOT flagstone).

Sounds good Ariana. I'm happy to come over and help too if you want. I'm going to ask my sister about the blackberries and raspberries because I don't want to kill them in dividing (she's a pro gardener). The mint I believe is pretty indestructable

Once the baby is a year older, I wouldn't mind the drive down that way...my SIL and her husband own an inn in Newport, plus I'd like to go to the RI beach, etc. Too bad my husband's second game store in N. Providence closed, his manager had a place in Cranston.
Maybe we can do these plant swap posts each spring...next year I'm sure I'll have even more to offer!

At least I think you're the mom from the other thread!
LOL. Yep, that's me.
You know if you want the pox just let us know!

I'd also like to hear the news from your sister about the proper way to transplant berry bushes/runners. I'd love to start a second patch of black raspberries, but I don't want to kill them in the process! Our CSA just cut down their old stand of blackberries two years ago because they were no longer producing. But our patch seems to be at peak production--we were getting 1/2 pint daily from our wee patch for a few weeks last summer!

i would be very interested in some yellow irises.

i have one shade-loving ground cover. not sure what it is called. the leaves are dark green and it has little bluish-purple flowers. very pretty.

i'm in charlestown but happy to drive to cranston any time!

not great weather for digging today but i'm heading up to providence this evening (for the kidoinfo.com b-day party!!!) so i'll be driving right by if you wanted me to stop.

or if that's too stressful, we could plan for a day next week.

I'm gonna need vinca next year...for something so invasive I was surprised how much they were charging for a 6-pack of vinca at the garden center!

I'm feeling too sick for this today Ariana. Please don't worry about saving irises for me. Since we live in a rental I feel a little guilty about taking them anyway. I'm still happy to give you some blackberries and raspberries and hope to get gardening gloves today
That is if I can make it through my errands, stupid cold

Also do you all know about the Southside Community Land trust plant sale? One of my fave things to do since we don't really have the space for starting our own seeds. It's May 17 th I think.
It always makes dh and I go "so there are hippies in Providence"
