Hi everyone. I just recently became a single mother. I was in a domestic violence situation and I had to leave quickly, taking only what the kids and I were wearing and nothing else. I stayed at the Hope Shelter for women for a month until I could get a house and income. The only problem I now have is that the kids and I need clothes and household items and all of my money goes toward rent and bills. I've never been in this situation and don't know where to go for help. Can any of you tell me where to go? Thank you.

Hi and welcome.
I'm glad you found the courage to get yourself and children out of a dangerous situation.
I'm not sure of where to go for help. I know our local shelter takes donations to help with clothes and household items. Maybe yours does that or could direct you to a place that does. Thrift stores are a good place too and garage sales. You can often get lots of things for very little cost.
I hope you find some help and solutions for your family.

Hello & welcome. Good on you for having the courage to save yourself from a bad situation and move forward. I don't have any directions to point you - maybe there are some good links and info in the 'resources' sticky in this topic. Best wishes and stay strong!

: The shelter that I was at gave me my furniture. The yard sales just now started so I'm looking. These kids just seem to outgrow everything before we even get it home. :LOL
