My big boy weaned last week so now I'm only nursing the baby. He nursed for 3 years, 9 months, 1 week, and 1 day. It feels so bittersweet, but I knew that it would. Until a month ago he was nursing 4-6 times a day, but I really hated tandem nursing so I had encouraged him to nurse only 3 times a day, then after a week it went to twice a day, then after another week it was just first thing in the morning. Ten days ago he stopped asking to nurse in the morning and hasn't mentioned it since. Before I had another baby I was totally committed to child-led weaning, but once I was nursing two I knew that wasn't going to work for us. I was okay with him nursing once a day and was prepared to just let him stop when he was ready--I guess he was ready. In another week or so I'll mention it to him, maybe ask if he's all finished nursing now, or maybe I'll just let it slide.

Thanks, mamas. It's nice to have somewhere I can post about this and not be seen as a freak for nursing a kid that old in the first place!
