My appetite has been fairly normal since m/s stopped, but last night I woke up super hungry and couldn't get back to sleep until I ate something. Then I got up this morning and ate my normal breakfast and then a huge smoothie because I was still hungry. It's about an hour later, and I'm starving again.

What the heck is going on? Could I actually be thirsty and getting confused? Is this normal? Other people have mentioned feeling extra hungry sometimes, but this seems insane.

haha! nope, totally normal. that's why i crack up when i read that pg ladies only need an extra 300 cal a day. i probably ate 750 cal more in my 2nd and 3rd tri w/ DD, and i only gained 30 lbs.
enjoy! having an enormous appetite is my fave part of pregnancy. unfortunately, i'm still waiting on it with this one...

My guess is your body is looking for a specific nutrient. Any cravings to go along with the hunger? That might help you pinpoint what it is.

I was wondering about that. But nope, no cravings, just raving hunger (though I did have an almost orgasmic dream about peppermint candy ice cream last night. drooool...).

Later, when I sit down to meditate, I'll try to focus on you question and see if I can get a better sense of what might be going on, if anything.

Welcome to the next 5 months of your life . Just wait a few months, though, until your stomach is squished up and teeny and will only hold a tiny amount of food. You'll have to eat at least every hour!

Me too, and now I'm fainting b/c of it.

When I was pg with ds1, I was a teacher and had 4th and 6th periods free. I used to go to the cafeteria and eat full lunches BOTH periods. The lunch ladies thought it was hysterical and gave me my extra food for free!

I've been hungry ALL day long!!! Of course, hypoglycemia and pregnancy don't go well together - with the baby, my blood sugar crashes faster than usual, so I seem to eat all the time!

I've seen craving/food threads in other DDCs. I think I can hold off starting one for a while longer... but only a little while

Yeah, me too. I've been craving any type of Hispanic foods. There's this great Peruvian restaurant that now calls me one of their regulars since my pg started. It was the only thing I could eat through my morning sickness. Spanish rice and beans. Mmmm..... and salsa, pico de gallo, enchiladas, picadillo, arroz con pollo..... gah! I'm at work until 3 with only hummus and veggies and it's 8am! :

My DH thinks it's my version of craving "Traditional Foods" as my dad's a Hispanic mutt.

I need food now!

I have been ridiculously hungry too! My major cravings have been pineapples and baked potatoes! I have pineapples and cottage cheese every morning, and a bakes potato every night. And I think about the potato ALL DAY LONG. Hmmm... maybe I'll have one for lunch today!
