A good friend of mine (actually my sister's best friend) is having an emergency c-section right now.

Her due date was May 5 but they had her scheduled for induction tomorrow night. However through the night last night she got really sick and went to the hospital. She was 4 cm (although not really in active labor) and they kept her. She got to the hospital at 10AM. They started her on pitocin. Then they broke her water at 12:30. Just now my sister called and said they are doing an emergency c/s because the baby is disstressed. Mar (our friend) will be OUT for it and the father won't even be allowed in the OR.

I'm so upset, I'm sitting her bawling. I believe the baby is going to be fine, but I'm so worried about how Mar will be emotionally after all this. This is her first child.

ETA: OMGosh, that was fast. My sister just text me and said he is here and is doing fine. I'm still worried about the mom though.

My delivery with dd ended like that. It was really weird to be knocked out and wake up to a baby sitting there next to me. Honestly though in the end I think it was harder on my dh than it was on me because he had no clue what was happening to his wife and child. At least I was knocked out and not able to be scared.

I hope your friend heals quickly and the baby is healthy

I had this happen with DD. Though I was havig contractions for 3 days. And except for the Pitocin and general-the rest of the story is the same.
And I was traumatised. Very much in the days following, but it did ease up.

My best friend had seizures due to PIH (pre-ecampsia)-she almost died. She too was under general. It also took her a while to get over it. But she went on to have another child (despite thinking she wouldn't)
And now I'm having another despite a long wait.
She'll need time to get through it and will probably want to talk it through. But she WILL be OK.

Happy birthday to the babe. I'm glad to hear they are both safe and sound.
ETA--My DD was having large decels b/c of 1 inch hole between her atriums. (Which wasn't caught until this past Aug.)

Baby and Mom are both doing well and baby is trying his hardest to nurse. I'm so proud of the mom. I knew she really wanted to nurse and I was worried the c/s would hinder that for her. She's really determined though.

I didn't go up to the hospital b/c I figured she is really tired and would need rest. But she actually called me and had me "walk her through" getting him to latch on. He latched on and suckled a bit but she really didn't have anything yet to give him...just a tiny bit of colostrum. I told her he might not want to nurse for another 24 hrs or so but do not let the hospital "bully" her into giving him a bottle.

I don't know what was bringing on the sickness? Maybe labor starting? I don't know. She just said she wasn't feeling well yesterday or last night. I just can't believe as soon as she got to the hospital and was 4 cm they immediately started pitocin.

I told her to call me, no matter what time of the day/night if she needed to talk about ANYTHING at all. I told her chances are I'd be up nursing anyways, haha.

So I'm going to try to be here as best as I can for her. I'm just so angry that the doctors got "over" involved, IMO.
